Josh Marcy leads eCommerce operations at The Perfect Jean. Having previously worked at Manscaped and True Classic, Josh is passionate about scaling brands through digital experiences backed by data-driven insights and creative thinking. To Josh, it’s all about “continuous optimization”.
Challenge
As a growing brand with a loyal customer base, The Perfect Jean thrives on acquiring customers through playful and humorous marketing campaigns. With significant traffic from ads and social media, The Perfect Jean has invested significantly in storefront optimization, understanding that even small gains in conversion rate can produce meaningful results for the business. Historically, The Perfect Jean used Google Optimize for A/B testing, and Rebuy for powering upsells and crossells.
When Google Optimize was sunset in September 2023, The Perfect Jean went searching for a powerful A/B testing platform to keep their optimization engine running smoothly. The goal was to find a solution that would serve their ambitious development roadmap, but with the agility needed to test and optimize on the fly.
One thing led to another, and CEO Ovadia Labaton was introduced to Visually. Let’s just say he was sold.
Visually offered The Perfect Jean a way to:
1. Run dozens of simultaneous A/B tests
2. Create hyper–personalized shopping experiences
3. Analyze their experiences with a thorough and robust reporting page
But no less important, The Perfect Jean was able to consolidate their onsite tech stack, using Visually in place of Rebuy for smart product recommendations, upsells and post-purchase offers. This not only slashed costs, but also meaningfully improved overall site speed.
Outcome
Working in tandem with their trusted design and development agency, Softlimit, Josh is utilizing Visually to run 20+ experiments simultaneously, while leveraging Softlimit’s development resources for more intricate and technical projects.
In just under 2 years with Visually, Josh and the team have run more than 300 tests! Of course, not all have been successful, but even the ones that underperformed have provided valuable insights to the team. Here are some of The Perfect Jean’s most outstanding wins:
1. 100% Satisfaction Guarantee
The Perfect Jean offers shoppers free 30-day returns and exchanges. They not only display this policy on their FAQ page, but also in a dropdown section on product pages. It’s a great way to reduce any shopping concerns, and presenting it on product pages ensures that shoppers won’t miss it.
However, Visually suggested that Josh experiment with the language and copy for this section. Perhaps there was a more compelling way to present the policy.
Indeed, there was. Josh updated the copy to say “100% Satisfaction Guarantee” and conversion rate went up by 3.4%. It was such a minor change, took just minutes to set up, but generated a substantial uplift to the brand.
What’s next? Josh will look to leverage this more compelling policy language on other pages of the site to see if it has the same effect.

2. Product Page Videos
Whether on the homepage or product pages, Videos have become a staple for most eCommerce brands. They are simply more engaging than still photos, and a great way to showcase a product’s benefits and use cases. For quite some time, The Perfect Jean has been utilizing interactive [and humorous] videos on their product pages. But for data-driven Josh, he was always curious about the real impact on site performance.
Fortunately for Josh, Visually enables brands to conduct tests on almost every third party app available, and discover the true value each one generates.
It was no surprise that the videos did indeed increase site performance. By how much? A 3.3% increase in conversion rate, and a 4.5% increase in revenue per session.
Josh is now rigorously testing the brand’s tech stack to determine which apps are genuinely creating value, and which ones are ultimately unnecessary…

3. Post Purchase Upsells
Migrating their upsells and recommendations from Rebuy not only enabled The Perfect Jean to consolidate their stack, but empowered them to test and personalize their merchandising in ways that were never before possible.
Josh has been particularly creative with their post-purchase upsells, and after extensive experimentation discovered that the best offer is actually showing the shopper more of what they had already purchased. For example, if a shopper purchases the athletic comfort short in 3 different colors, their post purchase offer will be 40% off the same short in a different color.
Their original post-purchase offer with Rebuy was a hoodie for 33% off, and saw a 1.8% conversion rate. Their current offer? An astounding 18.6% conversion rate.
None of this would have been possible without continuous testing and optimization of their upsell offers. Whether styling or algorithm, Josh is constantly fine-tuning to find the most compelling offers.

4. Sizing Tips
For new shoppers, sizing is a very legitimate concern, particularly for apparel and footwear brands. In fact, 27% of shoppers fail to purchase because they’re unsure about sizing. As most brands do, The Perfect Jean has a size guide, along with pictures and descriptions to further illustrate size and fit.
The problem? Most shoppers generally have a pretty good idea of their size. The shoppers who struggle are those who are in between sizes, unsure whether to size up or size down.
Having tested with hundreds of other apparel brands, Visually suggested incorporating a simple size tip to help direct these “on the fence” shoppers: “Not sure / in between sizes? We suggest sizing down”.
It was just a small touch, but this test generated a 4.5% uplift in conversion rate, and is now a core piece of all product pages.

At any given time, Josh is running upwards of 20 experiences for The Perfect Jean, and constantly iterating to find what works best for the brand.
Since partnering with Visually, The Perfect Jean has bolstered its marketing and creative strategies by creating uniquely personalized shopping experiences. The rapid feedback loop, from test ideas to test results, has enabled Josh to continuously optimize the onsite shopping experience. For Josh and The Perfect Jean, Visually has become a core part of their business, and at this point something they could genuinely not live without.
