How Revant Optics & Monumental Use Visually to Test 5X More Ideas and Cut Development Time by 30%

Background

Revant Optics is a premium replacement lens brand helping customers extend the life of their favorite sunglasses instead of replacing the entire frame.

That creates a very different buying journey from traditional eyewear. Customers need to feel confident they’re choosing the right lenses for frames they already own, making compatibility and trust critical to the purchase decision.

Challenges

With no proven playbook for their unique business model, Revant and Monumental, their development partner, had to build their own. Experimentation became essential to validate ideas with real customer behavior rather than assumptions.

But their first A/B testing platform relied on theme-based testing, which made experimentation difficult to scale. They could only run one test at a time, and every theme update broke their active experiments.

So they switched to Visually. With Visually, Revant built a high-velocity experimentation program, running multiple experiments in parallel and validating changes without developer involvement.

Visually helps us replace assumptions with evidence. The platform is so easy to use that we're constantly testing new ways to improve the customer experience.”

Outcome

The real unlock was how Visually fit into Revant’s existing partnership with Monumental. Instead of investing significant design and development resources upfront, Revant can launch a lightweight version with Visually in minutes or hours, and measure its impact first.

If it loses, they move on. If it wins, Monumental turns the proven concept into a polished, native experience. Until then, Visually serves the winning version to all shoppers so Revant can capture the gains immediately.

Fully designing and developing something before you know if it works is an outdated waterfall approach. When you can quickly prototype and test an idea first, you find the winner faster and ensure only proven ideas are developed.”

Rob Alan
CEO of Monumental

Together, Revant, Visually, and Monumental built a continuous optimization loop: Test with Visually → prove what works → build with Monumental.

The result:

  • 5X more ideas tested

  • Gains captured much faster

  • 30% less design + development time

With so many ideas being tested, Revant quickly uncovered valuable insights into how customers shop for replacement lenses.

Here are 4 of their biggest wins:

PLP: Price Anchoring

Revant realized their customers were highly price-sensitive. After all, one of the biggest reasons to choose replacement lenses is the significant savings compared to buying entirely new sunglasses.

So the team tested making those savings more visible by adding a “Save XX%” badge to each collection page.

Result: +18.2% revenue

PDP: Default Color Selection

Customer questions revealed that most Revant shoppers weren’t looking for a new style. They simply wanted replacement lenses that matched what they already had.

Instead of defaulting every shopper to a gray lens, Revant tested preselecting the best-selling lens color for each frame.

This reduced decision fatigue and made it easier for shoppers to find the right replacement.

Result: +12.2% revenue

Homepage: Cart Reminder

Revant tested a personalized homepage section reminding cart abandoners about the items they had already selected.
This kept their purchase intent alive and made it easier to pick up exactly where they left off.

Cart: Compatible Frame SKU

Replacement lenses introduce a question that doesn’t exist in most ecommerce purchases: “Am I sure these lenses fit my frames?”

Revant tested displaying the compatible frame SKU directly in the cart, so shoppers could confirm compatibility without navigating back to the product page.

More confidence. Fewer unnecessary clicks. More checkouts.

Result: +3.9% conversion rate

What’s Next

Revant started without a proven playbook for selling replacement lenses online. Now, they’re building one, test by test.

Experimentation has become embedded in their product development process, with every new idea tested and validated before being developed by Monumental.

With Visually Copilot (AI), they’re taking that approach further, exploring new ideas even faster and continuously uncovering new ways to improve the customer experience and performance.
